With great excitement and lots of joy the students of fifth and sixth grade that yesterday arrived in Ireland have begun attending Irish schools. During the following days, they will share desks with local students, they will get involved in cultural activities and they will live with their host families. A great linguistic immersion experience within an amazing moment in time.

[21/6] Vikings had a great influence on Ireland since they arrived in this country many years ago. They were people with very strong naval tradition, known worldwide for their frightening and robust ships. Today, our students have had the opportunity to go down the river Shannon on a fine replica of a viking warship. It's been a great experience for them all, and a perfect chance for laughing and having fun.

[22/6] The sun is shining brightly these days in Athlone and temperature is almost as warm as in Spain, what makes the trip even more amazing. Today students have had a thrilling experience at the cinema, enjoying within the world of dinosaurs along with Bayona’s new film “ Jurassic World: fallen kingdom”. Tomorrow comes one of the top activities of the programme, a one-day trip to Dublin. But the destination it’s not important according to the old proverb: “ Wherever you go, whatever you do, may the luck of the Irish be with you!!!”

[24/6] 9:00 a.m. in the morning. A bus waits for our students at the B&Q car park at the north of Athlone city. They have waken up early, but the idea of spending the day in such an amazing city leaves aside fatigue to give way to enthusiasm and excitement. In fact, walking through Dublin's streets and visiting its most renowned monuments and places has given our students a good picture of the splendour and beauty of Ireland's capital city. The Temple Bar, Trinity College and Grafton Street, Ha'penny bridge and The Spire, Molly Malone statue or the National Museum of Natural History are examples of what students have visited in 6 intense but also unforgettable hours.

[25/6] Another sunny day in Athlone, in which our students have taken part in sports and team building activities. Cooperation and teamwork have been key in today's games, all of them developed in a context where fun a learning merge, resulting in a nice and pleasant afternoon.

[27/6] Today's visit to Dún na Sí amenity and heritage park has been a very enjoyable cultural experience. In there we have learned about turloughs, a type of lake that appears in the winter and disappears again in the late spring. They're normally found in limestone parts of Ireland, especially West of River Shannon. Dún na Sí also hosts a fine recreation of Irish history, from an ancient magical stone circle to a farmhouse where Irish people used to live one hundred years ago. After the visit, students have enjoyed playing outdoors, rocking each other in the swings and sliding down the zip line.

[28/6] After English lessons, students have enjoyed a fabulous bowling afternoon, followed by some shopping time at Athlone Town Centre and Golden Island Shopping Centre. They've also taken a beautiful walk by the side of the Shannon, where Irish people were basking in the sun and taking a dip in the river.

[29/6] Last day of lessons for our students at Shannon Academy, in which they have happily received their course certificates together with a warm good-bye from their teachers: Patrick and Paul. It's been a moment of great emotion! After lunch, we all have enjoyed a nice cycling in Lough Boora, a natural park within beautiful surroundings! Tomorrow morning we'll travel to Galway and the Cliffs of Moher, the final touch of this incredible trip!

[30/6] It seems like it was yesterday when we arrived in Ireland, all of us anxiously waiting for the moment we would finally meet the families with whom we have shared house and life during these two weeks. But time flies when you are having fun, and tomorrow we will travel back to Spain with our bags full of good memories and beautiful experiences. Moreover, there couldn't have been a better way to say goodbye to Ireland than visiting two of its most symbolic places: the lively and colourful city of Galway and the breathtaking views over the Atlantic from the famous Cliffs of Moher. It's been an intense but very exciting day in which we have also found some time to learn a little bit of History while firsthand experiencing how life was like in the Medieval town of Athenry. Goodbye Ireland, you'll always be in our hearts!
